Get to Heaven

Scripture in Red are Words of Christ

EMPHASIZED...

...IN THE BIBLE is the fact that you can know you will spend eternity in heaven when you die. It is God's will for you to know! God does not want you to be confused about the single most important decision in your life. After all, "GOD is not the author of confusion." (1 Corinthians 14:33)

"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." (1 John 5:13)

WHAT IS ETERNAL LIFE?

"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." (John 17:3)

You can have the assurance of salvation today!

First, you must be saved.

"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3)

RECOGNIZE...

1.  YOU ARE A SINNER.

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" (Romans 3:23)

"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." (1 John 1:8)

"There is none righteous, no, not one:" (Romans 3:10)

"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;" (Isaiah 64:6)

No matter how good you are, what religious origin you have, from what denominational background you come, your race and color of skin or even your geological location, we are all still just sinners.

2.  THERE IS A PAYMENT FOR SIN.

"For the wages of sin is death;" (Romans 6:23)

"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Romans 5:12)

"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" (Hebrews 9:27)

"And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." (Matthew 7:23)

"Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:...And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal." (Matthew 25:41, 46)

"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." (Revelation 20:15)

The payment for sin is eternal separation from God in a place called hell. Just think...If you died today without trusting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, these seven words would be ringing in your ears throughout all eternity, "Depart from me, I never knew you." From that moment on, forever, you would be erased from the memory of God, His people, His kingdom. But, good news is just ahead!

REALIZE...

1.  GOD LOVES YOU.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

2.  JESUS PAID YOUR DEBT FOR SIN.

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)

"Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed...the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all." (Isaiah 53:4-6)

Jesus paid our sin debt by taking our place on the cross. He accepted our punishment for sin from God. His blood was shed that our sins may be washed away forever!

3.  GOD WANTS TO SAVE YOU TODAY!

"Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." (II Corinthians 6:2)

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (II Peter 3:9)

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)

"Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." (John 6:37)

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)

APOLOGIZE...

BE GODLY SORROWFUL FOR YOUR SINS.

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

"I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." (Luke 13:5)

Whatever it is that would hinder you from living for Jesus, Let Go and Let God be Lord of your life!

"Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house JUSTIFIED rather than the other:"  (Luke 18:10-14)

Faithful church attendance, giving tithes, holding offices in the church, even living a morally pure life is great! But, according to Jesus, if you have not humbled yourself down in true repentance, you ARE NOT saved!

JUSTIFIED...

Just if I'd never sinned.

"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:" (Romans 5:1)

BY FAITH, TRUST JESUS AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOR!

"What must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." (Acts 16:30, 31)

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8, 9)

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9,10)

Read this prayer and see if it says what you want to say to God...

Lord Jesus,

I recognize that I am a sinner and the payment for my sin is too great for me to bare. Yet, I realize that you love me, You paid my debt for sin, and You want to save me right now! Please forgive me of all my sins and by faith, I receive you as Lord and Savior of my life!

Amen

By using these words or in your own words, ask Christ to save you right now.

JUSTIFIED, SANCTIFIED, SATISFIED!!!

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:" (John 1:12)

"...Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls." (1 Peter 1:7-9)

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY OF GOD!

BAPTIZED...

The next step.

"Then they that gladly received his word were baptized:" (Acts 2:41)

"And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway." (Acts 16:33)

"Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." (Romans 6:3, 4)

"The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:" (1 Peter 3:21)

As you have seen in the previous scriptures, baptism is the next step following your salvation experience. It signifies that by being emerced into water your old sinful nature has been laid to rest into a liquid grave. Now, as Christ rose from the dead on that glorious Easter morning, even so shall you also be raised up from the water to walk as a new person in Christ. Although baptism is not essential for salvation, we encourage you to take the next step. Follow Christ's example and join a spirit-filled, bible-believing church and be baptized this Sunday!

"Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." (Hebrews 10:23-25)

EVANGELIZE...

(Definition: to announce good news, bring glad tidings, preach or declare the Gospel)

What is the Gospel?

"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved,...how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures:" (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

The Gospel:  The Death

The Burial, and

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ

"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." (Mark 16:15, 16)

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." (Matthew 28:19, 20)

(In Matthew 28:19, 20 above, the blue s is added to alway  for clarity since the King James Version uses alway rather than always.)
